IAWF Seeks New Board Members

The directors of the International Association of Wildland Fire are seeking to fill four vacant positions on the board from among the IAWF membership. Appointments are for a period of two years. Directors must be dues-paying members of the IAWF and prepared to work to further its aims.

The International Association of Wildland Fire is a nonprofit, professional association representing members of the global wildland fire community. Its purpose is to facilitate communication and provide leadership for the wildland fire community.

If you are interested in one of the available positions, please e-mail wildfire@iawfonline.org with a short message summarizing the skills and qualities you can contribute to the board and to the IAWF’s management operations. If you wish to nominate another person for consideration, please do so and the board will approach the nominee. All nominations must be received by Oct. 31.

IAWF directors are keen to widen the geographical representation on the board to further the International scope of the Association. Applications from members who are resident or working outside Canada and the United States are particularly welcome. Most board meetings are conducted via telecom, so your location usually is not a barrier to participation.

The IAWF will hold a membership meeting and a board meeting on Thursday, Nov. 20, in conjunction with its annual Wildland Fire Safety Summit Nov. 18-20 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. For more information, visit www.iawfonline.org.
