Dec. 31 is the deadline for applications for the U.S. Fire Administration National Fire Academy's second semester residential program, which begins April 1, 2004, and ends Sept. 30, 2004.

General eligibility requirements include substantial involvement in fire prevention and control, emergency medical services, fire-related emergency management or other allied professions. Applicants must also meet certain criteria for each course.
