Female Firefighters Training Day Scheduled in Illinois

The Illinois Fire Services Institute will hold its second Female Firefighters Training Day on Saturday, Feb. 19, in Frankfort, Ill.

Chief Debra Amesqua of the City of Madison Fire Department will be the keynote speaker. Topics of classes and training include firehouse leadership, new car technology, EMT skills and hands-on reviews, and hands-on training with rescue tools and in firefighter safety and survival.

“Spread the word to your female co-workers! Let’s get a good turnout of fire service women,” said Cheryl Horvath, a field instructor for IFSI and a company officer on Engine 22 with Urbana (Ill.) Fire Rescue Service.
