PopSci Features Pierce Mobile Command Post and More Industry News

The December issue of Popular Science named the Mobile Command Post by Pierce Manufacturing Inc. as one of the top 100 technical innovations of 2003 and gave it one of five awards in the engineering category, describing the new command-and-communications vehicle as “the most technologically advanced disaster-response unit ever created.” For more information, see the complete press release.

 System Planning Corp., based in Arlington, Va., has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Navy to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of fire department services at Navy installations. SPC’s TriData division, a fire and emergency preparedness consulting organization, will complete a detailed analysis and evaluation of the delivery of base fire and emergency services and make recommendations for improving fire and emergency services readiness Navy-wide. Icom America Inc., headquartered in Bellevue, Wash., has hired Joe Collica of New York as a sales manager for the Northeast territory of the United States. Collica will be working throughout New York and New England through dealer channels, new and existing government accounts and turnkey system sales.
