CPSE Grows Accreditations, Partnership

The Commission on Fire Accreditation International recognized 10 fire agencies at its spring meeting, bringing the total number of accredited agencies to 122. In addition, the Commission on Professional Credentialing has increased its number of Chief Fire Officer designees to 506. Both commissions are part of the Center for Public Safety Excellence Inc.

The CPSE board of directors also established new sponsor categories to support its ongoing mission and vision. To that end, the organization is working to develop a more dynamic relationship with ESRI. The relationship will be highlighted with the opportunity to purchase software bundles through CPSE, now an official business partner of ESRI.

“We have seen and heard of the value that completing the self-assessment and accreditation journey provides” said Executive Director Tom Wieczorek. “We also seek to provide our members with other benefits that assist them in this journey and help to continue the professional development of the fire service.”

Part of that assistance includes workshops schedules for 2007 and new programs that will educate in statistics, strategic planning, and use of GIS in developing an integrated risk management plan and a standard of cover. Interested parties can register at the CPSE Web site, www.publicsafetyexcellence.org.
