Your fire station entry will appear in our distinctive November issue and be seen by more than 50,300 fire chiefs, officers and manufacturers in the fire service market.* The Station Style Awards issue is a valuable source of ideas and innovations for fire service executives and governing bodies.

Projects must have been completed since Jan. 1, 2007. Judges have requested only completed projects be submitted, as renderings are subject to change during approvals, budget adjustments and final construction.

Cost

The entry fee to participate in the Station Style Design Awards competition is $1,475 (1 page) and additional pages are $1,240 each.

The fee covers judging expenses and the production, printing and distribution of the magazine to more than 50,300 fire service leaders.* The fee applies to all entries.

Entry Categories

The awards will recognize superlative work in six categories:

Career Stations - Facilities staffing full-time fire and emergency personnel.
Satellite Stations - Additional stations from headquarters or main offices.
Volunteer/Combination Stations - Facilities for volunteer or combination departments.
Shared Facilities - Fire and emergency response facilities combined with other agencies or organizations (such as police, local government offices or library).
Station Renovation - Facilities that are redesigned, repurposed or upgraded.
Training Facility - Facilities designed primarily for local, regional or state training programs.

Portfolio Requirements

Once you submit your initial entry form, we will email you with a list of all required portfolio materials, how to submit them, and the due date for those items.

The portfolio portion of your entry will include:

Project description (200 words max.)
Space plans, including:
- Overall site plan
- Floor plan
Photographs, including:
- One 8 x 10-inch four-color overall exterior photo that captures the nature of the project
- Two additional 8 x 10-inch four-color exterior photographs
- Four 8 x 10-inch four-color interior photographs
- Up to three additional photos are optional

FIRE CHIEF reserves the right to reject those entries deemed not acceptable for publication.

Evaluation

A panel of architects and fire service executives will evaluate and select projects for publication, considering:

Problem statement and technical specifications
Architect's response to the program requirements
Aesthetic characteristics of the solution

Awards & Recognition

Category Citations: One to three awards will be presented in each entry category for projects that exhibit the most noteworthy features. Commemorative plaques will be awarded to winning firms.

Outstanding Buildings: To produce a comprehensive sourcebook, other exemplary designs will be recognized and selected for publication.

Marketing Extras

Extra Issues: Receive two free issues for each project published in the 2011 Station Style Awards edition. (View last year's Station Style Awards print issue.)

Bonus Distribution: The issue will be distributed at industry conferences throughout 2011 and 2012, including FIRE CHIEF's Station Style Conference.
