Florida Station Reopens
Delray Beach (Fla.) Fire-Rescue has opened the newly rebuilt Station 4. The station was forced to close in June 2007 due to structural damage from hurricanes Francis, Jean and Wilma. While construction was in progress, staff responded to calls from a temporary facility located behind Barwick Road Baptist Church.
The station was demolished and rebuilt to meet current code standards and ordinances. Upgrades include energy efficient appliances, impact resistant windows and doors, a back-up generator, and confined-space rescue training area for the hazmat team. The facility uses drive-through bays with emergency light activation.
