Designed around the universal icons of the firehouse and the spirit of the firefighters' everyday contributions, Fire Station No. 6 encompasses the most recent advancements in architecture and industry technology, including CMU bearing walls with steel structure. Breckenridge Group was commissioned to design the new fire station, which houses a fully operational fire service and EMS to better service the growing southwest region of the city of Yuma. Incorporating classic features such as folding bay doors and vintage-style exterior lighting. Fire Station No. 6 has a classic appearance. Since this facility is a prominent fixture in the neighborhood, it was important to the department and the community that the station be an icon in the community, look attractive and to have the look and feel of a genuine firehouse.
Serving as the home away from home for firefighters, ensuring the design was comfortable and functional was extremely important. With six individual dorm rooms, a large kitchen, comfortable day room with recliners and a full-service weight room, the station house residents will have all the luxuries of home. The facility also incorporates state-of-the-art technology and equipment to help firefighters perform their job better.
