New Jersey Township Plans for New, Renovated Fire Stations
The Township of Cherry Hill, N.J. retained Stantec to provide architectural and engineering design and construction support services for a new combined fire and EMT station and expansions at three existing stations.
The Cherry Hill Fire Department is a full-service fire protection and emergency medical agency. In designing the $12 million capital facility projects, Stantec will be working closely with the Cherry Hill fire chief to streamline and modernize the department as well as address the different needs of the EMT and the fire department.
At the three existing stations, Stantec will be adding modern living quarters, exercise facilities and training rooms. The design is based on a modified prototype that will be tailored to each site depending on its daily operations and office, bunkroom, and common area needs. The training requirements for the department are located at Station 3. These capabilities will be expanded and incorporated into the fire administration building, creating a central location for personnel and administrative functions.
A new fire/EMT facility will be similar to a recently constructed building and the aesthetics will be compatible with the materials being used at Garden State Park to blend into the neighborhood. Construction is expected to start in the summer or fall, with completion slated for 2010.
