Project Goals:
1] Demolish an existing 50-year-old, 4,000-square-foot firehouse due to inadequacies in living spatial requirements, apparatus spatial requirements, seismic compliance, inefficient mechanical and electrical systems and storage.
2] Protect existing cell tower to maintain uninterrupted operation during the demolition and construction process.
3] Design prototype state-of-the-art firehouse, fire training and city conference facility to achieve LEED-certified rating and include the following functions:
- Designed to complement a neighborhood with a mix of residential, commercial and retail
- Three-lane, drive-through apparatus bay with a capacity of five apparatus
- Automatic-release carbon-monoxide vehicle exhaust system
- Eight individual sleeping rooms with future expansion for two additional sleeping rooms
- Bathrooms shared by every two sleeping rooms
- Kitchen and dining area with three refrigerators, one for each shift
- Lieutenant's office adjacent to sleeping room
- Exercise area adjacent to sleeping rooms
- Firefighter pole
- Training/conference center for 50 people
- Breakroom for conference center
- Storage for training

- Concrete paving at all locations
The facility achieved a LEED Gold rating.
