The National Technology Transfer Center's Emergency Response Technology Program, in collaboration with the National Corrections and Law Enforcement Training and Technology Center, will sponsor Mock Disaster 2004 Sept. 10-12 at the former West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, W.Va.

The NTTC's program is a national initiative focused on commercializing products designed to keep America's emergency responders safe and effective in performing their duties. Established with funding from FEMA, the program receives technical direction from the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate.

The Mock Disaster provides comprehensive training for emergency personnel in mitigating large-scale disasters. The emphasis will be on pre-planning, preparation and evaluation, skills that will enable participants to be better prepared to handle mass-casualty incidents with minimum loss of life or property, said Michael Lucey, ERT program manager.
