Primedia launches Homeland One training network

Primedia Workplace Learning has unveiled Homeland One, a multi-million dollar communication and training solution designed to enhance homeland security. The system integrates crisis preparedness/response training and communications across multiple secure platforms for first responders.

Homeland One has been praised by early adopters for solving the critical problems faced by first responders, namely how to cost-effectively deliver timely, high-quality training to the most personnel, while also solving communications, preparedness and command and control challenges.

"With emergency services' expanded mission to include homeland security, the development of Homeland One will provide a training platform to reach the greatest number of first responders as we prepare them to respond and enhance our abilities in homeland security for such events," said Chief Randy R. Bruegman, president of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.

"Primedia has proven itself in providing quality training and communications to the public safety community with more than 25,000 certifications per month issued to law enforcement, fire and emergency services personnel." As first responders have been tasked with substantial new responsibilities related to homeland security, state and local budgets are shrinking or in deficit and thus often inadequate to prepare and train first responders for their critical new assignments.

Homeland One - empowered by Primedia Workplace Learning's 15 years of experience in first responder training - fills the void, providing cost-effective training and communications capabilities for federal, state and local officials and agencies. The robust training content, available only through Homeland One, covers a wide variety of potential threats, ranging from critical infrastructure protection to weapons of mass destruction detection and response. The scalable training curriculum effectively provides on-demand access to must-have "best practices" training and procedures via satellite, video-on-demand, computer-based training, seminars, CD-ROM and Internet video to the desktop. Homeland One's triple-encryption-secured network provides seamless communication and information flow in the event of an attack or catastrophe.

"Homeland One provides officials and agencies at all levels a cost-effective opportunity to achieve and demonstrate measurable progress at the first responder level in addressing homeland security challenges that can threaten our nation's safety and freedom," said Dave Ellett, CEO of PRIMEDIA Workplace Learning. "For more than a decade, we have invested heavily in a content-rich and secure training and communications platform, and since 2000, we have been purposefully migrating and integrating our capabilities to create a solution that enables federal, state and local agencies to affordably interconnect and consistently train first responders in a way that will save lives in a crisis."

"Considering the challenges facing law enforcement agencies nationwide in terms of homeland security missions, the communications and training capabilities of Homeland One are invaluable," said Robert Taylor, Professor and Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of North Texas and consultant on anti-terrorism for the U.S. Department of Justice.

Compliant with National Interagency Incident Management Systems, Homeland One's customizable training modules are based on the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Domestic Preparedness Homeland Security Training Guidelines and Standardized Emergency Management System standards. This training is only available through Homeland One.

"Homeland One provides a definitive solution for federal, state and local government agencies with responsibility for solving homeland security challenges," said Bryan Mossey, vice president of Homeland One. "Homeland One is a first-of-its-kind, measurable and effective solution for preparing our nation's first responders and managing terrorist attacks or other domestic crises."
