According to the CDC, here are steps for treatment of cyanide inhalation.

- Immediately remove the patient/victim from the source of exposure.
- Evaluate respiratory function and pulse.
- Ensure that the patient/victim has an unobstructed airway.
- Immediately administer 100% oxygen.
- Assist ventilation as required.
- If breathing has ceased (apnea), provide artificial respiration.
- Establish secure large-bore intravenous (IV) access.
- Prepare a cyanide antidote kit, for use under a physician’s direction, for symptomatic patient/victims. See the "Antidote for Cyanide Poisoning" sidebar for antidotes.
- Monitor for respiratory distress.
- Seek medical attention immediately.
