Phil Stittleburg, chairman of the National Volunteer Fire Council, joins FIRE CHIEF Associate Editor Mary Rose Roberts to discuss funding challenges faced by volunteer fire departments.
Stittleburg joined the volunteer fire service in 1972 and has been chief of the LaFarge (Wis.) Fire Department for 25 years. He has represented the NVFC on a variety of standards-making committees, including ones that set industry standards on firefighter health and safety. He has served on the National Fire Protection Association's board of directors and currently is an adjunct instructor at the National Fire Academy and a board member of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Stittleburg also is FIRE CHIEF's legal columnist.
