The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the U.S. Fire Administration will hold the 28th annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend Oct. 2-4. A plaque with the names of 103 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2008 will be added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial, located on the National Fire Academy campus in Emmitsburg, Md.

FIRE CHIEF Associate Editor Mary Rose Roberts is joined by Chief Ron Siarnicki, director of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

He discusses the NFFF's mission and how more line-of-duty deaths can be prevented.
