Holman is chief of German Township Fire & EMS, a volunteer department that protects 48 square miles in western Ohio. He is a 36-year veteran of fire and EMS and a member International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association, American Society for Training and Development and the National Association of EMTs.

Holman joined Associate Editor Mary Rose Roberts to discuss his session, including how to use motivation techniques to develop a strong, dedicated work force — whether in a career, volunteer or a combination department.
