Support for the Long Haul, a nationwide campaign to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The program will raise funds for the NFFF, which assists families of firefighters who die in the line of duty.. has launched
In addition to supporting families, the NFFF works with fire departments across the country and major fire service organizations to develop education programs to prevent firefighter injuries and deaths. The foundation receives funding through private donations from caring individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations.
“We are grateful to our sponsors for helping us raise awareness and funding so that we can fulfill our mission,” said Ron Siarnicki, National Fallen Firefighters Foundation executive director, in a statement.
Through Oct. 1, participants can go online to make a donation to the NFFF. Everyone who donates will be entered automatically in the Support for the Long Haul sweepstakes for the chance to win a firefighter-inspired, customized Ford F-150 4 x 4 SuperCrew pickup truck, said Dawn Ruchala, the company’s senior marketing communications manager. The winner will be announced in November.
Pierce has been involved with the NFFF since 2008 through a partnership with Harley Davidson to giveaway customized motorcycles to sweepstakes winners as well as an internal giveaway that in total raised $275,000.
“Because we are celebrating our 100th anniversary and working so closely with the NFFF the last several years, we just wanted to make a big splash in 2013,” she said. “In the first three campaigns, we also heard people who wanted a pickup truck because not everyone rides motorcycles.”
The current sweepstakes for Ford F 150 prize is expected to be worth double that of previous years. However, until it is unveiled on April 25 in Indianapolis, Ruchala offered few details.
“I can say it has custom paint, is firefighter-inspired with hand-painted gold leaf on it,” she said. “It is customized inside and out.”
