Nominations Open for National Fire Plan 2003 Awards

The U.S. Department of Interior and the U.S. Forest Service are accepting nominations for the National Fire Plan 2003 Awards. The awards will be given out at the National Fire Plan annual meeting in Reno, Nev., March 3-5, 2004. Awards for excellence in implementing the National Fire Plan will be given to individuals and organizations in six categories based on the plan’s key points: Collaboration

The U.S. Department of Interior and the U.S. Forest Service are accepting nominations for the National Fire Plan 2003 Awards. The awards will be given out at the National Fire Plan annual meeting in Reno, Nev., March 3-5, 2004.

Awards for excellence in implementing the National Fire Plan will be given to individuals and organizations in six categories based on the plan’s key points:

  • Collaboration (new in 2003);


  • Firefighter Preparedness, Safety and Training;


  • Rehabilitation and Restoration;


  • Hazardous Fuel Treatment;


  • Community Assistance, and;


  • Innovation in Utilization of Biomass (new in 2003).
