Federal Signal Trademarks the Q Siren Sound

Federal Signal has trademarked the sound produced by its Q siren. The siron joins other notable sounds, such as the rumble of the Harley Davidson motorcycle and the MGM Lion.

In a move designed to eliminate copycat sirens, Federal Signal has obtained a trademark on the unique sound produced by its popular Q siren. The siren joins other notable sounds, such as the rumble of the Harley Davidson motorcycle and the roar of the MGM lion, which are also protected by trademarks.

The sound of the Federal Signal Q has been around for more than 50 years and is widely recognized as a unique and attention-getting fire apparatus warning device. The trademark will help Federal Signal protect the sound from other companies who might claim that their products "sound like" a Federal Q siren.
