USFA Offers Pilot IMT Course

The U.S. Fire Administration is conducting a pilot class for its newly developed six-day course, Command and General Staff Functions for Local Incident Management Teams. The pilot class will be held Nov. 11–16 at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Md.

The team-training course is designed fire, EMS, public works, public health and/or law enforcement personnel from a single jurisdiction, generally one that is larger and more populated, who would be activated to manage an incident requiring a significant number of local and mutual aid resources.

To be eligible for the course, students should be assigned to fill a position on the command and general staff to manage an incident or planned event. They also should have demonstrated working knowledge of the incident command system and have previously participated in the development of incident action plans. They also must have completed IS700 and IS800 and ICS-100 and ICS-200 or equivalent.

To apply, students must complete FEMA General Admissions Application (Form 75-5) and send it the NETC Admissions Office, Building I, Room 216, 16825 S. Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, Md. 21727. Applications must be postmarked by Sept. 14. Applications also may be faxed to the Admissions Office at 301-447-1441.

Students who are accepted to the pilot course will be notified in writing by the admissions office.
