Fechheimer Brothers Company earns ISO 9001 Registration
Fechheimer Brothers Company, designer, manufacturer and distributor of fire stationwear work uniforms, was granted ISO 9001 Registration from Underwriters Laboratories Inc. on June 7. The ISO 9001 Registration includes the Cincinnati, Ohio, Hodgenville, Ky., and Grantsville, Md., sites.
The ISO 9000 series standards are internationally recognized as quality management system requirements developed by the International Organization for Standardization. Registration affirms that Fechheimer Brothers Company's management system has met the quality requirements developed by ISO. ISO 9001, the most comprehensive standard in the ISO 9000 series, focuses on quality system requirements for a company's design, manufacturing, installation processes and servicing systems.
Gus Schaefer, UL chief engineer, Follow-Up Services says, "Competitive pressures can create an incentive for firms to seek ISO 9001 registration. There are some indications that global firms and some government agencies will be encouraging their suppliers to obtain registration to the standard. And being registered is a way for firms to set themselves apart from other supplies." Schaefer adds, "Internal improvement, market positioning, supplier control and customer or regulatory requirements are all sound reasons to seek quality system registration, and Fechheimer Brothers Company chose this path."
