Former N.Y. Fire Chief Dies

William M. Belinson, former chief of the Eggertsville (N.Y.) Hose Company, died Aug. 18. He served as chief from 1960 to 1977 and was elected fire commissioner in 1979, a post he held until his death. He was an active firefighter for 59 years. Belinson was named Firefighter of the Year in 1958 by the Fireman's Association of the State of New York, and received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Erie County (N.Y.) Volunteer Firemen's Association earlier this month.
