New Fire Chief for Concord, N.H.
Daniel Andrus was named fire chief of Concord, N.H. He'll begin in June.
According to the Concord Monitor, Andrus came to Concord two years ago after a 28-year career with the Salt Lake City Fire Department. He was deputy chief of administrations when he left.
Andrus has a bachelor's degree in fire services administration and another in business management. He also has two master's degrees: one in public administration and one in economics. He has graduated from the National Fire Academy's executive fire officer program. Tom Aspell, Concord city manager, told the paper, "He has the right combination of skills and experience, intelligence and integrity, that we were looking for."
Andrus will replace former Concord Fire Chief Robert Vezina, who had been chief since 2006. The paper reports that Vezina was demoted to deputy chief in August after being indicted on a charge of witness tampering. That charge is still pending.
Vezina was demoted to deputy chief last summer and Tim McGinley was named acting fire chief. McGinley, also a candidate for the chief's position, will return to the deputy chief rank.
