Fla. Firefighter Receives Prestigious Award

Ocala (Fla.) Fire Rescue firefighter Dan Pope received the prestigious FireMark award for performing a life-saving Heimlich maneuver while off duty.

“This is the first time the award has been given to a local firefighter,” said Liberty Mutual’s Chris Kent.

“Firefighter Dan Pope exemplifies the traits of firefighters everywhere. Always willing to help others 24 hours a day, whether on duty or off duty,” said Ocala Fire Chief Gentry. “We are very fortunate to have Dan as part of our team."
