Eagan Downsizes with New Fire Engine

Eagan Fire Department's new fire engine is built on a Peterbilt chassis with a Pierce Fire Apparatus custom crew cab and stainless-steel body.

Eagan is the ninth-largest city in Minnesota with a population of 65,000, and the Eagan Fire Department is the second-largest volunteer fire department in the state with an authorized strength of 150 volunteers serving from 5 stations with 30 pieces of equipment.

For its most recent truck, the truck committee was instructed to downsize the engine. The new fire engine is built on a Peterbilt chassis with a Pierce Fire Apparatus custom crew cab and stainless-steel body. The OVL on the truck is just over 29 inches. It has a 1,500-gpm Waterous pump, 500-gallon water tank, and a 20-gallon foam tank with a FoamPro system.

There are a total of four seats, including the driver's. The total cost of the truck fully equipped was $405,000, with the rescue tool. — Chief Mike Scott
