Change can be good

Your copy of Wildfire, beginning with this issue, should show up in your mailbox sooner than before.

We constantly try to improve our communication products to the fire community. Over the past year, the Wildfire Editorial Advisory Board has initiated many changes, working with our contributors and expanding the magazine's content. Such changes are gradual and ongoing, and we hope you appreciate the work that internal group of volunteers is doing.

However, some changes appear suddenly while others can take years to occur. Consider this recent minor change to Wildfire — your copy of Wildfire, beginning with this issue, should show up in your mailbox sooner than before. In the past, your magazine arrived in the middle of the two-month publication period noted on the cover; this Jan.-Feb. 2010 issue normally would have arrived in early February, possibly even later for international mailings. For years we have been hearing from members, subscribers and even advertisers wondering why the issues always showed up "late." We always explained this was a result of the magazine's production schedule, which is difficult to change logistically! We could just as easily have changed the dates on the cover, but then we would have missed an issue cycle.

There is a lot more involved behind the scenes than just the physical mailing to your address. However, we are pleased to announce that, with this issue, you should be able to read your magazine about a month earlier from here on out.
