Pennsylvania passes dorm sprinkler bill
The Pennsylvania House and Senate have passed Pennsylvania House Bill 209, which provides state funding to underwrite the interest costs for the installation of sprinklers in state-owned college and university residence halls.
The bill now moves to Acting Gov. Mark Schweiker for signature. The bill has been a two-year effort of Rep. Michael McGeehan to improve the level of fire safety in all student housing.
