The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge kicked off its ninth season with some tough competitors from the emergency service and football fields. The Challenge, which will air on espn on June 3 at 6 p.m., edt, was held April 8 in Rockville, Md.
Eight nfl starters donned bunker gear and helmets and took a shot at playing Challenge competitor. The highlight of the day was when Tim Dwight, stand-out punt returner from the Atlanta Falcons, put on Lion gear, Ranger boots and a Scott Air-Pak and ran head-to-head against Sean Mowbray from Tri-Town ems in Maryland. Mowbray got smoked. Dwight posted a 2:03.
A record also fell at the event. The Streamlight Relay time set at Las Vegas by the Toronto Fire Department (1:24) was smashed by the Fairfax County,Va., team, with a time of 1:19.15.
