The Treasury Department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has initiated a series of arson and explosives training courses for state and local investigators and prosecutors.

atf officials decided to offer the courses because experience has shown a cooperative effort between trained state and local officers and atf results in more effective investigations. The increasing number of violent acts involving arson and explosives has established a greater need for state and local investigators with a high level of expertise.

As part of this cooperative effort, the atf offers the following courses:

* Advanced Arson-for-Profit Investigative Techniques.

* Advanced Explosives Investigative Techniques.

* Advanced Cause and Origin: Courtroom Techniques.

* Arson for Prosecutors Training Program.
