NFA Rolls Out Small-Town Fire Prevention
The National Fire Academy will offer a new course for boosting community fire prevention efforts in small towns and communities. Leading Community Fire Prevention (R-823) will be held June 6-11 at the NFA campus in Emmitsburg, Md.
“This course underscores the commitment of the U.S. Fire Administration leadership and staff to protect our nation's communities from fires,” said U.S. Fire Administrator R. David Paulison. “Having fire leadership, firefighters and emergency responders able to identify and apply prevention strategies to their own communities takes this nation another step closer to a safer homeland.”
Especially designed for fire prevention leaders in communities with populations of 25,000 or fewer, the course covers risk identification, tools and techniques, community coalitions, marketing, and development of individual community prevention plans.
There is no tuition charge for NFA courses. Lodging is also free and transportation costs are reimbursed. For more information, see the NFA Web site at www.usfa.fema.gov/fire-service/nfa/nfa.shtm.
