Illinois Sets Home Day Date

A coalition of Illinois business and fire service leaders have scheduled Illinois Fire & Rescue Industry Home Day for Thursday, June 1, 2006. The Illinois Home Day is an extension of the fire service awareness program held April 6 in Washington, D.C.

The planned Home Day will take place in two locations to better accommodate anticipated attendance. While events are planned throughout the day at each location, organizations are asking Congressional representative and their staffers to attend at least from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

One location will be anchored by the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs of Illinois at Empress Banquets, 200 E. Lake St., Lombard, Ill. The other will be anchored by the University of Illinois Fire College at Assembly Hall, 1800 S. First Street, Champaign, Ill.

Organizers are asking fire service professionals to contact their Congressional representative with a letter similar to this sample in Microsoft Word format, urging them to attend.
