The National Volunteer Fire Council's Executive Committee met Jan. 19–20 in Baltimore, Md. On the agenda was a review of the organization’s five-year strategic plan and a discussion of the delay in the Assistance to Firefighters grant program application periods and the role that EMS plays in the fire service.
The committee reviewed the NVFC’s legislative priorities and discussed plans to reintroduce of legislation that failed to pass in the 109th Congress. The legislative priorities are established by the NVFC’s Legislative Committee, which will meet in March at the Spring Board Meeting in Washington, D.C. The executive committee is composed of five officers, the chair of the legislative committee, the president of the NVFC Foundation, and four elected board members. Members of the committee are Philip C. Stittleburg, chairman; Norman E. Hoeft, first vice chair; Jack Carriger, second vice chair; J. Allen Metheny, secretary/treasurer; Jim Monihan, Legislative Committee chair; Robert Kilpeck, president of the NVFC Foundation; Aubrey Boudreaux; Jeff Cash; Phil Sayer; Paul Wilcox; and Jim Williams.
