Lansing Fire Chief Leaves for Sioux City

Fire Chief Greg Martin, after 10 years at that post in Lansing, Mich., is resigning to become the new chief of the Sioux City (Iowa) Fire Department.

"I will always remember the people," Martin said. "At the end of the day, there's never been a fire engine that put out a fire — it's the firefighters." He said a big reason for his move is to be closer to family.

Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero praised Martin as a tremendous asset and a terrific leader. He said a search for a new chief will start in the near future and that he would name an interim chief soon.
