La. Fire Chief Resigns

Chief Daniel Scott, a 27-year veteran of the Houma (La.) Fire Department, has tendered his resignation after two years as chief, reports the Daily Comet in Thibodaux, La.

Scott told the paper he had intended to resign prior to Hurricanes Ike and Gustav, but did not want to leave his position during a crisis or the subsequent cleanup. Scott says he's retiring.
