NVFC Seeks Information on Sucessful Trash Burning Ban Initiatives

The National Volunteer Fire Council is partnering with the Chlorine Chemistry Council and the Rural Community Assistance Program in a study of rural communities to learn about successful campaigns to discourage the open burning of residential waste.

It is looking at identifying communities where bans or restrictions are in place to address open burning of waste and how local fire departments play a role in these efforts. The project will conduct in-depth telephone surveys of local officials, including fire officials, in these areas to learn what is being done and whether it is successful.
