Fireman’s Fund Launches New Program for Firefighters
Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co., in a move it says better aligns the company’s commitment to support the fire service, has announced the availability of a new insurance program for Maryland and Illinois firefighters. The new program not only offers those firefighters insurance protection at a discounted price, but Fireman’s Fund also will donate a portion of the premiums paid to the fire service.
The company is offering a line of homeowners, auto and liability insurance products tailored to meet the risks and needs of firefighters at a 10% discount. In addition, the company will donate 1% of the premiums paid back to the fire service in the states where policyholders live. The donation will be made via the Fireman’s Fund Heritage operation, the company’s long-term philanthropic program that provides millions of dollars of grants and volunteer support to local fire departments, national firefighter organizations, and fire and burn prevention nonprofit organizations each year.
The insurance products are available to both career and volunteer firefighters –- including chiefs and officers -– residing in Maryland and Illinois. Fireman’s Fund plans to make the coverage available in other states in late 2006 and 2007.
The company also has created a special call-in center with experts trained in the needs and culture of firefighters just for this product line, and to help kick off the program. For every Maryland or Illinois firefighter who calls for a free homeowners, auto or liability insurance quote between May 1 and July 31, Fireman’s Fund will donate $8 to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association Scholarship Fund or to Camp I Am Me, a burn camp run by the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance. No purchase is necessary.
For more information on the program or the insurance products themselves, go to the firefighter insurance page of the Fireman's Fund Web site or call 800-330-1462.
