The application period for the FY 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant program began this week and will remain open until May 20 at 5 p.m. EDT.

The FIRE Grants, which will be distributed in phases, are funded at approximately $510 million for fire departments and non-affiliated EMS organizations throughout the country.

An applicant tutorial is available through the FIRE Grant Support Web site. The tutorial walks users through the preparation and submittal of competitive applications. In addition, the applicant tutorial will provide an overview of the funding priorities and evaluation criteria.
