Cochran Unofficial Winner of IAFC 2nd VP Post
The International Association of Fire Chiefs has announced that Chief Kelvin J. Cochran of the Shreveport (La.) Fire Department is the unofficial winner of the election held for the office of IAFC second vice president.
A subcommittee of the IAFC elections committee observed the election company’s tabulation process on Aug. 10 and has determined the unofficial results of this year’s election. A total of 2,803 IAFC members exercised their vote to elect a new second vice president and for proposed changes to the IAFC constitution and bylaws, according to the IAFC. All proposed changes to the association’s constitution and bylaws were passed by more than the required two-thirds of voters.
The constitutional changes passed makes the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs the Canadian Division of the IAFC and identifies all individual members not included in any other divisional associations as international members.
The election results will not be official until the elections committee has met at Fire-Rescue International to validate them. For more information, visit the IAFC Web site.
