Marietta Fire Chief Dies Suddenly

The southeast Ohio city of Marietta is in mourning after the sudden loss of its fire chief.

Chief Ted Baker died March 28th at Marietta Memorial Hospital with family members and Mayor Michael Mullen at his side.

Officials say Baker suffered a heart attack while playing his usual Tuesday night game of basketball with firefighters. They moved in quickly to try to resuscitate him and say the chief never complained of not feeling well.

The 53-year-old Baker became the city's fire chief almost eight years ago. He leaves behind a wife, children and grandchildren.
