The Dixon, Ill., city council swore in new fire chief Tim Shipman this week. Shipman replaces Dean Rhodes, who retired after 22 years of service.

The Daily Gazette reported that Shipman wants to maintain a high level of firefighter training, a stock of high-quality equipment, and community education projects.
