Florida Taps South Walton Chief to Lead Fire Marshal’s Office

Leslie “Les” Hallman, a 30-year veteran of the Florida fire service, has been named the next director of the Florida state fire marshal's office. Hallman will succeed retiring director Randall Napoli.

For the past 12 years, Hallman has been fire chief for the South Walton (Fla.) Fire District, overseeing operations of five fire stations with 120 personnel and a $16 million budget. He previously served as fire chief of Tavares (Fla.) Fire Rescue and as a member of the management staff of the Orlando (Fla.) Fire Department.

As director of Florida's state fire marshal office, Hallman’s job will be to oversee four bureaus: the Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations, a law enforcement agency; the Bureau of Fire Prevention; the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training; and the Bureau of Forensic Fire and Explosives Analysis, an arson laboratory.
