Grants totaling just over $5 million have been awarded to 34 national, state and local organizations in the eighth round of the DHS Fire Prevention and Safety grants. Twenty-four of the 34 grants were awarded directly to fire departments and districts. Those 24 grants totaled approximately $745,000.
The Fire Prevention and Safety Program sets a priority on projects focusing on the prevention of fire-related injuries to children. Many of the awards represent innovative solutions for the delivery of fire prevention activities throughout the United States.
