The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has released the 11th round of Assistance to Firefighters Grant program awards for FY '06, naming 63 departments and districts throughout the United States as recipients. The grants total more than $7 million.
The Bamber Lakes (Forked River, N.J.) Volunteer Fire Company #1 and Clark Mills (N.J.) Volunteer Fire Department both will receive $285,000. The Oneida (N.Y.) Fire Department receives a grant of $275,000 and the Mills (Wyo.) Volunteer Fire Department will receive $255,000. A complete list of FY '06 AFG recipients is available at www.firegrantsupport.com.
DHS also announced the 12th round of FY '06 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grants. Twenty-seven agencies were named recipients of awards totaling nearly $7.9 million. Those receiving the largest awards were the Frankfort (Ill.) Fire Protection District, $931,500; St. Tammany Parish (Covington, La.) Fire District #12, $797,427; and Republic (Mo.)
