Fire Chief

Nebraska Picks New Fire Chief

All 26 members of the Platte Center (Neb.) Volunteer Fire Department voted for Eric Korus as the next fire chief.

All 26 members of the Platte Center (Neb.) Volunteer Fire Department voted for Eric Korus as the next fire chief. The former chief, Virg Pilakowski, remains on the department, but did not run for chief.

Korus is a four-year veteran of the department. However, he came with the full endorsement of Pilakowski, the Columbus Telegram reports.

“I was actually approached by Virg and he asked me if I was interested in it. I wanted to be involved in it, but wasn’t sure how to,” Korus told the paper.

Korus told the paper that his goals include creating standard operating procedures, updating the computer system and getting firefighters properly trained.
