International Aid for California Fires

The Associated Press reports Australia, Canada, Greece, Mexico and New Zealand are sending firefighters and equipment to California to help crews combat wildfires. Additionally, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ordered assistance from 2,000 more National Guard troops — he previously ordered 400 to the scene.

"We are stretched thin and our firefighters are exhausted," Schwarznegger told AP. "The fire season as we've known it is pretty much over … Now we have fire season all year round."
