NVFC Opens Junior Firefighter Grant Application Period

The Nationals Volunteer Fire Council has opened the application period for the 2009 National Junior Firefighter Program grants, sponsored by the Dunkin' Brands Community Foundation. Ten $5,000 grants will be awarded to departments whose junior firefighter or Explorer Post programs demonstrate innovation, creativity and community impact.

The Nationals Volunteer Fire Council has opened the application period for the 2009 National Junior Firefighter Program grants, sponsored by the Dunkin' Brands Community Foundation. Ten $5,000 grants will be awarded to departments whose junior firefighter or Explorer Post programs demonstrate innovation, creativity and community impact. Recipients will be selected based on program innovation and impact and financial need. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. EDT on August 15.

This year, junior firefighter scholarships will be awarded separately from the department grants. Ten $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to junior firefighters nationwide who demonstrate commitment and dedication to their local junior firefighter program and the fire service. Scholarship applications are due by 5p.m. EDT on May 15.
