IAFC Foundation awards scholarships

The 2002 IAFC Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee awarded $14,500 to 18 scholarship recipients. Six awards were made to volunteer firefighters and 12 to paid firefighters.

The 2002 recipients are: Jason Sevrest, York, Pa.; Charles Napp, Saginaw, Texas; Robert Maas, McKenney, Va.; Paul Martin, Chicago; Tom Jenkins, Broken Arrow, Okla.; Deborah Cantwell, Indianapolis; James Ramer, Goshen, Ind.; Michael Stellato, Doylestown, Pa.; Kevin Reynolds, North East, Md.; Andrew Caldwell, Kingsport, Tenn.; John Shaw, Hillsboro, Ohio; John Zimlich, Jr., Louisville, Ky.; Barry Karelitz, Monroeville, Pa.; Travis Humbaugh, Washington, Ind.; Michelle Gremillion, Evergreen, La.; Joseph Carilli Jr., New Britain, Conn.; Heather Ketchum, Gilbertsville, N.Y.; and Tom Kroeger, Romeoville, Ill.

Since 1974 the International Association of Fire Chiefs' Foundation has awarded more than 800 college scholarships to U.S. and Canadian fire officers and firefighters. These annual scholarship awards generally range from $250 to $4,000 and are evaluated by a scholarship selection committee of fire service chief officers. The foundation also provides two annual $500 scholarships for Explorer Scouts.
