Shell to Offer Two Engine Oils in 2007

Shell Lubricants plans to offer two oil formulations for diesel engines in 2007. One will be the existing CI-4 Plus oil for current engines, and the other will be the new CJ-4 oil required for 2007 engines.

Even though the new Shell CJ-4 oil is backwards compatible — that is, it can be used on older engines as well as new ones — it will carry a price premium over the current CI-4 oil.

The new Shell CJ-4 oil will be available in bulk, drum and individual packaging starting Oct. 15. The older Shell oil will be available only in bulk and drum quantities after that time. Fleets that store oil in bulk and plan on switching to the new oil should drain their tanks completely and consider cleaning them if possible.

For more information about the new Shell CJ-4 oil, go to www.rotella.com.
