PolyBilt Bodies Hold Tough In Florida

After three years of service, PolyBilt bodies continue to hold tough for Marion County Fire-Rescue in central Florida. Delivered in 2004, the RescuPak and PolyPak bodies provide the county with maximum firefighting and rescue capabilities at a fraction of the cost.

“This was a new concept to us,” said Bart Walker, division chief with Marion County Fire-Rescue. “We worked [with PolyBilt] to design the tanks for what we intended them to do, and they’ve filled that need. We are happy with their performance and look forward to purchasing PolyBilt bodies in the future.”

According to the manufacturer, the bodies are made from corrosion-resistant polyprene material and have ample interior compartment space with an optional integrated water and/or foam tank. They provide more payload than similar size metal bodies and offer lower hosebeds with lower centers of gravity, as well as other design innovations. The polymer material is well-suited for bodies that have to operate in both high and low temperatures, and they are flexible enough to resist cracking and fatigue due to constant movement. The resilient material is also easier to repair should an accident occur.

“We work hard to provide the best products we can to the fire industry,” said Tim Dean, president and CEO of PolyBilt. “We want fire and rescue crews to be able to get the job done and not worry about the equipment.”
