The chief and asst. chief of the White Mills (Pa.) Fire Department were injured Jan. 11 when their engine slid off a roadway and into a tree as they responded to a cabin fire at Lake Constance in Wayne County. According to the Times-Tribune, Fire Chief Kenny Batzel and Assistant Chief Michael Hill were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale.

The White Mills KME engine had turned off Rocky Run Road and into the private development in Palmyra Twp. when it slid off the icy road about 1:20 p.m. The vehicle suffered serious damage. Road conditions required the use of tire chains, according to Hawley, Pa., Fire Chief Eugene E. Krause.
